Here's an excerpt from one of the stories I'm currently working on, enjoy!

He lifted her boots out of the truck bed and set them at her feet, then leaned her skis and poles against the truck. Skis on his shoulder he glanced over and asked, “You think you can carry those without hurting anyone?”

Cassie slung the boots over her shoulder and stomped off with her skis and poles, anger shimmering in every step.

A small smile crossed David’s face as he watched her storm away. He had seen enough pain on her face today. If making her angry would take her mind off the rest, he’d gladly be the scapegoat.
