Staci Stallings - Coming Undone

Welcome, Staci, and thank you for sharing this wonderful story with us!

Staci, this is such a difficult topic to cover and you did it so well; gently, with understanding, but with a firmness that we all need to face what comes next. I hope you don't mind me sharing, but I think a lot of people could really benefit from reading this story.

Here's a peek at what Coming Undone is all about.

Ben Warren had life all figured out.
At 35, he’s successful in his work and free as a bird everywhere else. He has no desire to be tied down like some of his friends, and he sees no reason to change that. Then the unthinkable happens and causes him to rethink everything about everything.

Kathryn Walker can’t figure out what she’s doing wrong in the dating department. The rest of her life makes sense. She’s compassionate, strong, honest, hard-working and still alone. She wonders if she is doomed to spend forever single. Little does she know that fate is taking a major turn in her life. In fact, she doesn’t even see it happening until it has. Can she ever get past the fact that Mr. Right didn’t show up in the way she thought he would?

Excerpt:

Ben,” she said softly, “I’m sorry about what’s happened.” The words stopped because compassion choked the rest from her chest. She had learned not to force herself to keep talking in such situations. Time was a stabilizer that rushing simply couldn’t match. “Dr. Vitter said you’re considering hospice care for your father.”
Ben’s dark eyebrows arched in slight sarcasm. “I guess.” He exhaled and put his elbows on his knees and his hands to his mouth. “I don’t really know what I’m doing to be honest with you. All of this… stuff is totally new to me. I don’t know what’s best. I don’t even know what’s worst at this point.”
She watched him, her emotional radar searching for any and all signals that would guide her words. “I take it you will be the one to make the decision.”
“Yeah.” He laughed a hollow laugh. “Lucky me, huh?”
Kathryn didn’t push it. He was working this out in his head and his heart, and she had to let him in his way, in his time.
When he looked at her, there were a myriad of questions in his eyes. “Um, can I ask you some things? I mean, they didn’t really tell me much about your… program.”

4 ½ star review

When people think they have life all worked out, that everything is under their own control, that’s when life throws the toughest curve balls! And life, what is life? It’s here and gone at God’s will. So where will you be at the end of this one? This is the story of getting the answer to, "What comes next?"

Oh my goodness, the way Kathryn shares her faith with Ben as he’s searching for answers, the way she prays with a family who is losing a loved one...this is one woman who lets God speak through her when words are the hardest to come by. And these words, written by Ms. Stallings, are obviously words from heaven, sent to be shared with us. What a wonderful story! Emotions - from confusion to love - just flow from these pages.

All I can say is thank you for this story, Staci, thank you for sharing these blessed words. I hope they touch the hearts of many readers!

  2. Thanks so much, Donna. I really love this story. It's one I could read over and over again and get something new out of it every time. Kathryn is my hero... in my life. To be able to be there for people at that most difficult time. I don't know how hospice workers do it. I think God made them special in Heaven, and then blessed all of us with their presence!

  3. Absolutely they're a gift from God! When my mother-in-law was dying I wondered how they do it. How can they deal with death and dying almost every minute of every day and not become depressed? When God says "all things are possible" through Him, He means it (like everything else He says)!
